vava, three months

daily, you snuffle and snort yourself to wakefulness
too much breathing for two tiny nostrils.

your fingers grab my hair, you cling
and watch the bottle being made; your rite.

you laugh in the back of your throat, all kkkkkk
your legs kick like a thousand crickets.

you smile full into my face -
resonant bliss.

your eyes are like the night sky, eclipsed
clear and dark and filled with light.

you sleep upon the world, its queen
your limbs and lips uncurl like petals.

  1. You're a poet. Your writing is beautiful (and so is your daughter!)
